MANDALA ARTWORK

As a registered art therapist, artist and teacher, Erin Palazzolo Loparo MS-ATR has created mandalas (sacred circles) as a therapeutic art process for the past 20 years. A symbol of wholeness and the Self (noted by Carl Jung), making mandalas in art therapy offer a safe space for gaining insight, integrating difficult feelings and acts as a healing mirror in the moment. This artist's particular mandalas incorporate images and words. They begin spontaneously in the center with imagery and color choice developing organically into abstracted and symbolic forms that reveal feelings. Then, free-association words name those thoughts and feelings, appearing as written text embracing the circle.
